A second chance for Joy

While recovering at a remote cabin, Dr. Simon Walsh stumbles across Cara Amos. Injured and left for dead, Cara is harboring dark secrets. Yet Simon can't help falling for his mysterious patient. As her memory returns and her injuries fade under his gentle care, he vows to help her find her missing daughter.

At The Lemonade Stand shelter, managing director Lila McDaniels is helping Cara's estranged father, Edward Mantle, bond with his traumatized granddaughter, Joy. And his feelings extend well beyond gratitude.

Bringing this family together seems impossible… Luckily, Christmas is the season of miracles.

Okay I just have to point out that cover. Its cute, but then my eye draws to the background of the girl and I'm confused by the two guys in the background. This is just something I'm noticing before reading just confused me for a moment. (Never mind just finished the book and realized its the grandpa and the Lila.)

Dr. Simon Walsh has some vision problems and decided to rent out a secluded cabin to recover. Little did he expect to stumble upon a battered women unconscious. Cara was left for dead and was just waiting for things to end, she didn't want or need help after everything that has happened. Meanwhile Lila McDaniels is helping Cara's daughter bond with the grandpa she didn't even knew she had after going through a traumatic experience.

I think that was a terrible description the way I wrote it but it's hard to do so without spoiling the book. I loved the characters. It was tough seeing was Cara went through and I couldn't help but be curious on her dirty little secret and to find out more. I liked getting to know more about Simon in what happened to him and why he decided to seclude himself. Now when it came the grandfather and Lila although it was a nice addition I didn't really feel that it was necessary, more like it was filler and that the book could've just gone without but it was nice enough. Thing is I'm not a fan of two stories in one with multiple point of views except for the main characters and sometimes I had a hard time following what I needed to know from certain characters. Maybe that is just some problem that I'm going to need to deal with myself. I liked seeing that companionship between Simon and Cara and how they both helped each other out and really think about things. Overall a pretty good book I liked it.

Review : Winter's Kiss

Winter's Kiss by Beth Andrews

Genre : Super Romance, Holiday, Harlequin, Contemporary, Romance,

Pages: 218
Published November 1st 2015 by Harlequin

Synopsis:

He didn't believe in fairy tales

Romantic fantasies and happy endings don't fit Oakes Bartasavich's reality. Of course, neither does his breathtaking attraction to Daphne Lynch. From his prestigious career to his volatile family, there's too much at stake to risk one kiss—let alone one night—with her.

But a snowy Christmas stranded together in Shady Grove, Pennsylvania, shines light on everything he's fighting to deny. Daphne isn't just a beautiful temptation. She's a strong, intelligent, kind woman who deserves a happily-ever-after. One that Oakes isn't sure he can give her…no matter how much he'd like to.

Review:
I thought that this book was interesting and enjoyable. Thing is if you can look past the reason and how both Daphne and Oats have a shared sibling this is a good story. I kept going back to thinking the way that Oats was feeling that they are sort of related and that'[s enough to weird me out. I found that it was enjoyable enough to pass the time. There is a bit of an extra story in the with with another couple in the book. Even even though I liked what was going on with their relationship it wasn't necessary to be there. Maybe as a seperate novella but I found myself confused for a moment having to take the time to switch between who is who and keeping track of what is going on. My only problems was that at some points this book did drag for me. One of the thing I did like about this book was that Daphne was a strong willed women who will go after she wants no matter what. I liked the story overall I really enjoyed it.

Blurb:

One kiss can change everything!

Eva Monroe is always cool under pressure. As a firefighter, it’s part of the job. But after kissing Jake Beauchamp in a moment of confusion, she’s struggling to keep it together.  Jake’s her best friend and co-worker — two very good reasons why crossing this line is a bad idea.

Yet something between them must’ve changed because one kiss isn’t nearly enough — for either of them. But Jake is haunted by a past tragedy and isn’t the commitment type. With more than just Eva’s heart on the line, she needs to end things now before this fire burns out of control.

Review:

Eva is a female firefighter which is uncommon in the parts she lives. She works hard to prove her worth and things start to get from complicated to worse when her brother is left in her care after a incident with her mother and her close friend Jake are staring to blur the lines of thier friendship when they ended up locking lips. Everyone knows Jake isn't good for her and her life is complicated enough but they just can't help it.

Story line was simple enough but enjoyable enough to keep the readers wanting to read till the very end. I really enjoyed this book. Watching as Eva would learn to care for a child which she didn't have much experience with. Watching her relationship with Jake was fun, and steamy at times. There was just the right amount of drama to keep things interesting but nothing too over the top. Overall a great book and I recommend you lovely readers to check out this sweet book.

About that Night by Beth Andrews

One night…and a whole lotta trouble!

When it comes to men, Ivy Rutherford never loses her cool. Ever. Then she meets wealthy, green-eyed cowboy C.J. Bartasavich, and desire burns out of control. Yeehaw. So for one night, Ivy will indulge in a passion neither of them will forget…and walk away without a backward glance.

Except now Ivy's pregnant. And even worse, C.J. has come to her hometown of Shady Grove determined to get to know her and be part of their baby's life—even if she's convinced their attraction is purely physical. Because Ivy can't let herself rely on a sexy cowboy…or worse yet, fall in love with one.

Ivy decided to give into the attraction between her and CJ knowing that it won't do anywhere. Just an itch to scratch then he'll leave and she'll be satisfied. Little did anyone expect that it would lead to a child on the way. When Ivy decides to do the right thing and tell CJ then head back home without that guilt. What she didn't plan on was for CJ to seek her out to be apart of that child's life and maybe even her.

So that being said there is another perspective in the book, Graces, mini story. A story I didn't feel that tied into the story much so her story/relationship felt like an unneeded add on, but it was still interesting. I did like the story it was enjoyable. I loved watching them slowly love and learn to trust what was going on between each other.

The Rancher's Dream by Kathleen O'Brien

Love takes time…

Grant Campbell's survived some hard knocks to realize his dream of breeding horses on a Colorado ranch. But his simmering attraction to secretive Crimson Slayton isn't good at all. And remaining just friends isn't possible once tragedy leaves them in charge of a helpless baby.

Stuck in dangerously close proximity and playing family, Grant and Crimson can't resist what feels right. But while he's a man all about dreams, she has no faith in them. Together, can they get past her fears and find a reality that trumps even his wildest dreams?

When things got hard or seemed to comfortable she'd jet. But this time a tragedy takes place that leaves her with a child and being up close and personal with Grant. Now she in a situation where shes apart of a temporary family and needs to get out of it before things get complicated because she more times spent the more she wants to be with Grant.

I thought that this book was an enjoyable book. It was a bit too long for my taste and it dragged at some ends. I love that not only did we get the point of view of the main characters but a extra friend with her own bit of a story. I actually kind of thought her point of view was random and if she wasn't around I don't think it would've changed the story so much. I loved watching the connection between Grant and Crimson. Overall I really enjoyed this book.

Review : To Love A Cop

To Love A Cop by Janice Kay Johnson

She's sworn to protect her heart...

After what Laura Vennetti and her son have been through, she's avoided all contact with the police. Then her son brings detective Ethan Winter into their lives. Despite how appealing - and gorgeous - he is, it's safe to say Ethan isn't her dream man...

Immediately, though, Laura can see how different he is from her late husband. Ethan is thoughtful, considerate and a good influence on her son. Add in the intense attraction between her and Ethan and the temptation to give in is irresistible. To her surprise, Laura feels the wounds of the past healing, making her wonder if she could love this cop forever.

This is a heartwarming story on getting past grief and troubles, forgiveness and learning to love. I loved that Laura's son was just as important to the story in not only getting Laura's and Ethan perspectives but the sons as well. I loved getting into the sons perspective on the confusion of whats going on and how he's learning. I loved watching Laura and Ethan's relationship develop past those rocky times. I found Ethan's perspective on his case  interesting and getting that side action into his life making his character more realistic. I loved the details in this story it was easy to come up with a vivid image of what is going on as if its a movie in my head. I thought that the story line was interesting and this book was quite unique and interesting and I loved every moment of reading this story.

Review : Sweet Talking Man

Sweet Talking Man by Liz Talley

Who doesn't want a little sweet talk?

Leif Lively is the hottest thing to happen to Magnolia Bend. But single mother Abigail Orgeron figures he's another heartbreaker and does her best to ignore the steamy glances he tosses her way. When he speaks, though, her resistance crumbles! His sweet words, humor and laid-back ways captivate buttoned-up Abigail.

For once, losing control feels so good, and this no-strings arrangement is getting serious. What will she do when Leif solves the family mystery that brought him to town and decides to leave? Because she's learning that the biggest love means taking the biggest risk.

I must admit it took a couple tries to get into this book. Once I got over that bump that got me to stop those other times I just couldn't put it down I loved watching the romance between Leif and Abigail. I loved that there was multiple point of views and how the story progressed. I thought that this book well written but at times felt like it dragged. That was a bit of my problem which had me stall with this book a couple times. As sweet as this book was I wished that there was more drama or something, maybe I'm so used to my action packed with romance books that this slow and sweet book just didn't hook me much.Overall once I did get through the book I found that I really enjoyed this book.

Review : Winning Over Skylar

Winning Over Skylar by Julianna Morris

Genre: Contemorary, Romance
Kindle Edition, 384 pages
Expected publication: April 1st 2014 by Harlequin Superromance

She's changed...but has he?

Skylar Gibson isn't the rebellious teen she used to be. Aaron Hollister, on the other hand, is still the entitled rich kid who betrayed her. And if he thinks she'll let his business plans threaten her town, well, he'd better think again. But her first priority is protecting her secret—their fourteen-year-old daughter.

When the truth comes out, Skylar is shocked by Aaron's reaction. Could there be more to this golden boy than she'd thought? It'll take more than a trip down memory lane to prove he's changed....

My Thoughts:

What I liked about this book was that I've read many books like this but there were many aspects to this story to make it stand out and be unique. This book was more about the family relationships. I liked that this book not only got Skylar and Aaron's POV but as the girls of view also. I liked watching Aaron's character develop as the story progressed you can really see him change little by little into an even more better person. I liked that this book didn't over due the dramatics because this book didn't need it. This was over all a great book and I really enjoyed it!
