Publication Date: September 20, 2022

Publisher: HQN

What happens if the only Christmas celebration you want to attend is one you haven't been invited to? USA Today bestselling author Sarah Morgan delights with this hilarious and heartwarming Christmas cracker of a novel!

The Miller family Christmas is legendary – it’s the kind of perfect festive gathering that advertising exec Lucy has only ever read about. Until now. Because this year, she needs to get Ross Miller on board with a new contract, and he’s not taking her calls. So she has no choice – she’ll gatecrash the Miller Christmas, get Ross’s signature, then disappear before her envy at their epic family celebrations gets too much.

The Miller sisters couldn’t be more different – tough cookie doctor Alice despairs of soft-hearted nanny Clemmie – but they are united by two things. A wish to see their disreputable older brother Ross settle down, and horror at their parents’ well-meaning interrogations every Christmas! Especially this year, with both women hiding life-changing secrets they do not want dissected over the Christmas turkey. So when a woman shows up on their snowy Highland doorstep, asking for Ross, and their grandma mistakes her for Ross’s new girlfriend, an opportunity presents itself

Before she knows it, Lucy has been invited to stay for the holidays, as the newest Miller plus-one. Her ‘boyfriend’ is furious, but the chemistry between them is as tempting as it is surprising. It’s shaping up to be either Lucy’s worst Christmas of all, or the best mistake of her life….

Lucy was only trying to do her job to drop off to paperwork to Ross at his family's place when she finds herself nearby his place. Some how she got roped into one his family lies and ends up sticking around when a snow storm and accident leaves her stranded with Ross and family.

I gotta say this book got me in the holiday spirit in September which is kinda odd but I'm loving it. I'm one of those crazy people who do holiday stuff earlier then nessesary and this book just added to that I guess. I will say I really enjoyed this book, if you are looking to add something new to your holiday tbr list check this book out. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and meddling but well meaning family members. There was some point of views from other family members of Ross's you get to see as well and its interesting seeing everyone's story and where they are at their life. I enjoyed seeing the romance here and there and it was just a nice holiday read. Defiantly recommend you readers to check this book out especially if you want to get into the holiday spirit.

“Are you sure this is a good idea?” Maya helped Lucy pack boxes of the Fingersnug into a bag. “Isn’t there a risk that turning up at his house in Scotland makes you look like a stalker?”

“I can see why you might be concerned about that and I’m not going to say it didn’t cross my mind, but no. Firstly because I’m in Scotland anyway, doing a photoshoot for the Fingersnug along with reindeer and several influencers, and secondly because this is what Zoe told me to do. I’m simply following her advice. And it’s not as if I haven’t tried every other route first.” Maybe she was overstepping a little, but sometimes you had to take a risk to get ahead.

Ever since Arnie’s health scare she’d been working flat out to put together ideas for Miller Active. She was excited about her plan and desperate to get her proposal in front of Ross Miller before the competition snagged his attention. She was willing to take the chance that the whole thing could explode in her face. What was the worst that could happen? He’d slam the door on her, which wouldn’t be pleasant but at least she’d be able to limp home knowing that she’d done everything she could to help Arnie and protect people’s jobs.

“Who is Zoe?”

“Ross Miller’s personal assistant. She’s great. She’s organized, and she knows everything. We went to that new wine bar near the river last night, and—”

“You went to a wine bar with Ross Miller’s assistant?”

“Yes.” Lucy tucked some of the festive “props” she’d bought into the bag. “We’ve been talking every day for the past week, and we’ve become friendly.”

Maya shook her head in disbelief. “How do you do it? If someone stands still for long enough, you befriend them.”

“It wasn’t hard. I like her. I took my proposal over to the office and we got chatting. Turns out she’s from Scotland, too, and she knows Ross from school.”

“And he gave her a job?”

“Why not? She’s brilliant. And who knows, maybe she threatened to reveal all his secrets if he didn’t employ her.” Lucy added two boxes of fairy lights to the bag. “They’re obviously good friends. Sounds as if they have one of those fun relationships full of banter where she scolds him, and he pretends to do as he’s told. Can you pass me the snow globe?”

Maya handed it to her. “Good friends? Or very good friends.”

“Not romantic. According to Zoe, Ross isn’t involved with anyone. He occasionally dates, but women tend to get frustrated by his focus on work. He actually forgot about his last date, left her sitting in a restaurant.” She forced the snow globe into the bulging bag. Maybe it had been optimistic of her to think she could manage with the one bag.

“Not the king of romance, then,” Maya said. “Does Ross know that his assistant is revealing his entire personal life to strangers?”

“I’m not a stranger. I’ve seen her four times this week.”

May rolled her eyes. “And no doubt by Friday you’ll be godmother to her children.”

“She doesn’t have children, although she would like to. She’s dating William, but he’s currently living in Edinburgh and she misses him horribly. William, it seems, is very slow to make a commitment so Zoe is thinking of proposing herself. We talked through a few strategies.” Lucy tried to close the bag and failed. “A little help, please?”

Maya pushed the sides of the bag together. “No offense, but since when did you become the expert on marriage proposals?”

“I know a lot about the theory.” Finally, Lucy managed to close the bag. “You don’t have to travel the world to teach geography. I’m creative, that’s my job. I know how to make an impact. Also, I pay attention to what people want and need. That’s the basis of successful selling and, in the end, that’s what we’re doing. All the time. Every day. I’m going to be selling the idea of me to Ross.”

“So where does William fit into this?”

“William works in risk assurance so it’s understandable that he won’t be given to impulse. He needs a little something to nudge him past that caution barrier. Fortunately Ross Miller closes the office for a week over Christmas, which means Zoe can go home, too.” Lucy lifted the bag. “This weighs a ton. Nothing else is fitting in there.”

“He closes the office?”

“Yes. He goes home to Scotland to spend time with his family.”

“That’s nice.”

“It is. I like it when people appreciate family.” Lucy lowered the bag back to the floor. “I feel as if I’ve forgotten something. What else do I need?”

“A whole lot of good luck and the bound copies of your proposal. You wanted two, is that right?” Maya handed them to her. “You haven’t discussed this with Arnie, have you?”

“No. He is supposed to be resting. No stress. You know what he’s like. If I even mention this, he’ll want to be involved.” She knew she’d never forget the sight of Arnie being taken away in an ambulance. For a horrible moment she’d thought she might lose another person she loved, but fortunately it hadn’t turned out to be as serious as they’d feared.

Arnie had been discharged with medication and a lecture on lifestyle.

He was keeping in touch with the office, but Lucy had given everyone strict instructions not to contact him.

The office felt strange without him there. Even the Christmas tree and the decorations couldn’t make up for his absence. But if he rested now, hopefully he’d be well enough to come back to work in January.

In the meantime she was holding the fort.

Maya gestured to the proposals in Lucy’s hand. “Good work, by the way. Clever. I think Ross Miller will be impressed.”

“Let’s hope so.” She grabbed some Christmas wrapping. “Did you see the photo Ted sent round? The baby is gorgeous.”

“They’re not getting any sleep.”

“I know. Ted says he watches the baby half the night to check she’s still breathing.” Lucy knelt on the floor, cut the wrapping paper and measured a length of ribbon.

“Ribbon?” Maya frowned. “You’re not seriously gift wrapping the proposal?”

“Why not? It’s Christmas.” She wrapped the document carefully. “Even the most hard-hearted businessman can’t help but respond to wrapping paper covered in cheerful robins, surely?”

“That’s why you’re wrapping it? To fill his hardened heart with festive joy?”

“No.” Lucy tied the ribbon and secured the label she’d handwritten in careful script. “I’m wrapping it in case something happens and I’m not able to deliver it to him personally. It’s Christmas, and they have a big family gathering every year.”

“Zoe again?”

“No. I read about it in that magazine feature I mentioned.” She’d pored over every page, envious of the oversize Christmas trees, the lush garlands adorning fireplaces and the curved bannister. “If I hand them a boring-looking proposal the chances are they’re going to forget about it. Who wants to read a boring document at Christmas? If I wrap it, then there is a good chance that at some point over the festive season it’s going to be opened.”

“Possibly by one very disappointed kid who is immediately going to throw a tantrum before tossing it out of the window.”

“No young children in the family, according to my research.” She tucked the wrapped parcel carefully into her laptop bag, along with the spare unwrapped proposal.

“Please tell me you’re not dressing as Santa when you drop it off.”

“I wasn’t planning to—” Lucy rocked back on her heels “—but now you’re making me think.”

“Well don’t think. You’ve done enough thinking.” Maya rested her hip on the desk and folded her arms. “So why didn’t he go into the family business?”

“Ross? I have no idea, and it’s not relevant. I am not there to interfere with family politics. I am simply going to ring the doorbell and hand over my gift. Merry Christmas. That’s it.”

“You should have put a copy of that marketing magazine in with the proposal. Cover girl Lucy.”

Lucy stood up and put the unused wrapping paper back on her desk. “That’s one of those awards that we are all super proud of, but no one else in the world has ever heard of.”

“But you’re the face of modern marketing. He might be impressed.”

“Or not.” Lucy glanced at her phone. “I have an hour before my train leaves.”

“The sleeper. I’ve always thought that sounds romantic. Traveling on a train through the darkness, clickety-clack, clickety-clack.”

“There is nothing romantic about having a carriage to myself.”

“Maybe it will be like one of those spy movies,” Maya said, “where the bad guy is lurking, waiting to throw you out of the window.”

“And for that comforting thought, I thank you.”

“You should have taken some days for yourself while you’re up there. Have a mini break.”

Lucy couldn’t think of anything worse. “I’ve already booked my return journey the following night. All organized. It’s a flying visit.”

Even if she had the money for it, she didn’t want to spend time in a hotel on her own at Christmas. How miserable would that be?

No, she’d spend the day taking creative photos of the Fingersnug with the reindeer herd as her backdrop, and then she’d deliver her proposal to Ross Miller on her way back to catch the train.

As far as she could see, there was nothing that could go wrong.

he Buchanan sisters all share special childhood memories of their Aunt Sassy’s beloved Juniper Inn. There, they frolicked in the snow, baked sugar cookies, and celebrated the town’s annual Christmas extravaganza. They haven’t been back to Colorado in nearly fifteen years, but when their aunt invites them for one last Christmas, they can’t say no . . .

With her ex-husband whisking her children away for the holiday, Dahlia decides it’s time to do something for herself. Juniper Springs is just as beautiful as she remembers, but it’s also full of surprises — including the town’s handsome doctor, who makes her feel like herself again for the first time in years.

To the outside world, baker Magnolia has the ideal marriage. Only the pain and sorrow of infertility have strained her relationship with her husband, perhaps beyond repair. But a holiday miracle is about to change her life.

Spending Christmas with her family could be a necessary reality check — or the beginning of a brand-new happily ever after.

Three sisters with with different life situations decides to visit an aunt for the holidays after it sounds like the aunt isn't in the best shape. Dahlia is going to deal with being her kids and ex being away for the holidays leaving her alone. Magnolia has been dealing with fertility issues with her husband that's put a strain on their relationship. Rose is dealing with the stress of an overbearing future mother-in-law who is taking over everything from the wedding, to most things in the couples life and not sure what the future will hold or if she wants that.

Its amazing that I didn't pick this book up sooner. With the holidays creeping closer I wanted to find some great holiday books to get me in the mood and while reading christmasy books right now in September is a bit much its great for those who want recommendations for holiday books. So I'm going to try to set up a list of what I'd recommend and this book is defiantly going to be on that list.  If you like a contemporary book that takes place during the holidays but doesn't absolutely scream christmas then you'll like to read this.

While I had a hard time at first figuring out who was who at first it was pretty clear once I got used to the characters. I loved getting to know the sisters and seeing the difficult choices that they were going to need to make. On the plus side they did get to see eachother and really support one another during the holidays, they did a bit of changing and growing up and it was just lovely to see that. There was romances here and there and this book does have clean romances which is a positive for me. Overall great book I really enjoyed it.

If you like basic contemporary romances you'll like this book. I liked the characters and the story was pretty predictable but I just couldn't help myself being hooked on it curious to see what's in store for these characters. It was only supposed to be a temporary home…

He interrupts her plans…

When police chief Anson Curry returns a lost little girl to her frantic mother, his only goal is to ease the single mom’s anxiety. But it doesn’t take long for Tess Harper’s amazing child to have Anson wrapped around her little finger—and for Tess to have him thinking about a possible relationship. As for Tess, she’s tempted—even though she had planned to be in Oak Hollow, Texas, only temporarily. But after losing her father and brother in the line of duty, Tess thinks Anson’s job poses too much of a risk to her heart. And Anson has no plans to get involved with someone who’s planning on leaving.

From Harlequin Special Edition: Believe in love. Overcome obstacles. Find happiness.

This was a pretty cute and heartwarming book. So theres Chief Anson who helped Tess Harper when the roamed off and from then they kept finding themselves running into eachother. Now Tess is working with a family member of Anson's and her daughter seems to be claiming the hearts of those around her. Problem is Tess is only going to be there for a short while and two of her family members died in the line of duty so she's got her heart a bit guarded cause of his job.

This book was pretty sweet and if you are a seasonal reader this book does take place in the fall / christmas time so this is a good time to read it. There was little to no drama in this book. I loved seeing the romance between Tess and Anson and there was plenty of steamy scenes to go with that. I loved seeing the family life going on it was pretty cute I loved that the child didn't fade in the background. Tessa was dealing with a lot and clearly she's trying to do her best and do what she can for her child and it was interesting seeing how she was dealing with things when it came to her daughters heart issues and downsyndrome. Overall I really enjoyed this book.

A Brand-new life.

Former army sergeant Shane Brand is struggling to find a new normal. And his lovely new landlady sure is giving Shane a reason to strive for change. If Shane can overcome his inner demons, he may be worthy of Rebecca’s trust. Now it’s his new mission to be the man the single mom deserves, in time to give them all a dose of Christmas joy.

There was little to no christmas cheer around this book, I thought with a title like that there might be a bit more to the holiday aspect but other then a few gathering there was little christmas cheer to be seen. But as a contemporary romance novel this was a pretty good book I really enjoyed it. I loved that connection between the two. I loved getting to know both Shand and Rebecca's characters. I loved that when it came to Rebecca's children they didn't fall into some deep dark hole never to be heard from again which tends to happen. I loved getting to know what was up with Shane its clear he has PSTD but from what getting to know his reasoning for joining the army was an interesting one. Overall pretty good book I enjoyed it.

Now that he's back he gets hold of a family secret and his foster father wants him to attend a wedding and find a house for his current foster children. Its then that he decides to stick around temporary and maybe pursue a fling with Shelby before he leaves.

If you are looking for a sweet contemporary romance thats during the holiday season then you'll want to pick this book up. I originally thought that this was going to be a christmassy book because its called Lone Star Christmas but really its not. Maybe during the ending theres a bit that'll remind you what season it is but if you are looking for the holiday spirit you won't find it here but you'll read a pretty great book. I loved getting to know Stellas and Callen's characters. I loved the whole small towne feel with the gossip, and everyone being close. I loved the secondary characters and loved that whole stuff armadillo thing its pretty funny. I can only imagine what it looked like in real life. Overall this was a pretty great book I really enjoyed it.

A nanny at Christmastime…
Will she find love in this Wyoming Cowboys novel?

Six weeks on a ranch caring for quadruplets—aspiring nurse Ainsley Draper’s prepared for a busy Christmas. When the children’s handsome uncle opens the door, her task gets extra complicated. Marshall Graham is upholding his promise to look after his twin sister, the babies’ mom. But as family loyalty clashes with new love, will the perfect present include a future with Ainsley?

Ainsley is trying to make it as a nurse and until that can happen shes going ton take care of some quadruplets during the Christmas season. What she wasn't expecting was absentee parents, and a doting uncle taking care of the children.

This was an interesting book I loved getting to see the different family dynamics. I loved learning about both Ainsley and Marshall's past and why they act a certain way in this book. It was interesting Ainsley take on how Marshall's family was it was obvious that he wanted what was best for everyone especially for his sister. It was a little too much when it came to his sister, I get why he was a certain way because of their history but it was too much. I liked seeing how helpful Ainsley was with the family she really did try to improve their situation as much as she possibly could. I loved seeing the attraction form between Marshall and Ainsley it was sweet. Its also a clean holiday romance so if you like that as much as I do then you'll want to pick up this book. Overall pretty good book I really enjoyed it!

Includes the bonus short story "Midnight Clear" by Hope Ramsay!
Its barely into autumn and I just couldn't help myself. I was going to wait being that its a christmasy book but the holiday season seems to be rapidly approaching and I might end up getting swamped. Too swamped to pick up a good book to read. Also release day is today. These are my excuses as to why I picked up this book now. After reading this book I don't regret it. I really enjoyed this book and liked it so much I pretty much spent my whole day watching it. Trust me when I say that its was hard to put down. I liked the characters and getting to know them and their backgrounds. I thought it was interesting getting to know their families and seeing different reactions to different situations. I enjoyed hearing about the guests that stayed at the B&B and how different they were. Then there was a bit of a mystery when there was plenty of break-ins in the book and wondering who was behind it and it was interesting getting to see how it was handled. I was curious to see if this person who strike next possibly at the B&B to shake things up. I loved that bit of romance that was going on with the main characters and loved that this book managed to remain clean. Overall a pretty great book I really enjoyed it.

The Christmas Wishing Tree blog tour

The Christmas Wishing Tree by Emily March

Genre: Contemporary, Romance, Holiday Reads
Sometimes life’s most magical journeys bring you back to where it all began…From USA Today bestselling author Emily March comes The Christmas Wishing Tree, an enchanting account of the magic and miracle of Christmas.

A man who loves adventure and the open sea, Devin Murphy returns for a short Christmas trip to his small hometown of Eternity Springs. Immersed in the joy and magic of the holiday season all around him, he doesn’t hesitate to play along when a young boy phones Santa to ask for a very special wish. Devin never guesses that a wrong number has the potential to make everything in his life so right.

Jenna Stockton adopted Reilly when he needed a mother and she intends to keep him safe. A small town across the country called Eternity Springs seems like a good place to hide from their past without any complications —until sexy Santa himself discovers her secrets. When Devin proposes a daring plan to face down the danger together and defeat it once and for all, she is tempted. Maybe Devin really is capable of making wishes come true? Perhaps in a Christmas wish they’ll both find the miracle they’ve been looking for all along…

A delightful Christmas novel in the New York Times bestselling Eternity Springs series.
Jenny is a single mother who was a bit of a work-a-holic leaving her son to wish that he had a father to relive her of the burden to always having to work and was given a hot line to call for Santa. Hoping Santa could help having discussions with the man Devon who her son thinks is Santa. When Jenny and her son get victimized by a stalker one too many times leaving them to go on the run and naturally the calls to Santa had to stop. When they stop at eternity springs Colorado they start to feel some semblance of safety but know that its only a matter of time before things start to go south. What they weren't counting on was the Santa to be there, and for everyone to care enough about them to help out and find this stalker before things get messy. But that isn't the only thing getting messy Jenny seems to be attracted to the  Santa Devon but he lives in Australia and isn't staying long.

This was such a nice holiday read. I mean right now its barely fall and this got me wishing for Christmas already. I loved this book. I thought that it was going to be more focused on the mystery/stalker element but it wasn't. I loved seeing how close everyone was, supportive, and seeing them help one other. I loved the romance that was forming between Jenny and Devon and seeing how complicated things would get if they give into what they truly want. Then there is her son and seeing how he was first seemingly happy and hopeful, going to scared and distrustful and slowly but surely open up to what this town had to offer. It was such a sweet and heartwarming story and I really enjoyed it. If you are looking for a great holiday book to get you into the spirit then look no further because you'll have that with this book! Highly Recommend.

Emily March is the New York Times, Publishers Weekly, and USA Today bestselling author of over thirty novels, including the critically acclaimed Eternity Springs series. Jeremy Whitehurst has tried to leave his bad-boy behavior and tarnished image behind in Alabama for a fresh start in Cottonbloom, Louisiana. Unfortunately, trouble has dogged him across state lines. Stepping up and protecting a young woman from her abusive boyfriend earned him a beat-down and got him fired. Although the thanks in the girl’s dark eyes made it all worth it, he recognizes she’s just a different kind of trouble. A trouble he’s not sure he can stay away from.

One rebellious summer dented Kayla Redmond’s carefree innocence. Now her focus is on completing her associate’s degree for bookkeeping, and no one is going to derail her plans. Unfortunately, her job at Fournette Brothers Designs puts her in the path of the one man who has seen her at her worst, yet his blue eyes don’t judge her. He sees beyond the brokenness inside of her and rouses her wild side once more. But, that’s what got her in trouble in the first place.

Christmas is coming and Kayla’s ready to forgive herself and take a chance. But the holiday has only ever brought heartache to Jeremy. No Christmas miracle kept his mother clean or out of jail. Will one reckless night and some time spent in the back of a cop car be the best present Jeremy’s ever been given?

Overall I thought that this was a short, sweet, and enjoyable holiday read. Wish this novella could've been longer but its good for what it is. I thought it was interesting getting to see the brief history between the two and seeing their relationship now seeing friendship going into something more heated and sweet. This book is great to give you the holidays feels and if you are pressed for time and want a short escape into a book then I think this book is for you.
