Ember X

"The ember dies slowly in the mound of ash. Darkness and mourning, it longs to burn fire. But  the smoke and sorrow let it die. The need for a spark asserts fiercely. But a spark won't surrender  So the ember continues to smother. Into ash, into dust, into nothing. And that's how it will stay forever."

Ember X by Jessica Sorensen
Stars: 4 of 5
Format: Kindle/Ebook
Genre: New Adult, Angels, Fantasy, Supernatural, Romance, Dark, Urban Fantasy, Gothic
Pages: 337

Summary:

Ever since Ember made that call to the cops about her father being killed shes been under the police's watchful eye. Since his body has turned up nothing could be done.

Nineteen year old Ember has always be plagued with knowing how everyone around her would die just by simply touching them. So she has spent most of her life trying not to get into close contact with anyone and the only one who knows her secret is her best friend Raven. When an accident occurs that should've left her dead, Ember realizes the person who saved her, Asher, has no death sentence. She can now finally allow a person to get close to her without the burden of knowing his death. But Asher isn't all that he seems and has secrets to reveal if shes willing to listen.

Disappearances are now occurring in her town similar to her fathers and now shes back to being under the watchful eyes of the police.

"It hurts to be around life. People don't understand how close death is, right over their shoulders, around the block, at the end of a street. It's everywhere."

My thoughts:

Even though loved the book it was way too much like the first book. Ok I get that its a remake to be a New Adult book but there could've been more differences than just the sex scenes, language and from high school to college differences. Don't get the wrong I still loved the book, I just wished there was more than that.

I liked how this was a quick read, would've taken me about a day to read if life hadn't happen. I liked the unique take of Angels, Grim Reapers and Grim Angels. I was so conflicted on the characters Asher and Cameron. I liked that there was always something going on to keep me interested.

If you are a fan of the Fallen series by Lauren Kate I think you would really like this book.

"Like a feather in a dust storm, with no direction The Raven flies through life, helpless and omitted until night declares and the wind expires. Then it flies to the land of stones and etching and becomes an ember, breaking away.
