Shay could be the key to ending a war that humans don't know exist. Of a race of beings that aren't real, or are they?

Shay Tafford's childhood has been fatherless, filled instead with memories of speaking to the dead. She is forced to hide her unique ability from those living around her. That's why it's been comforting to have Jeremy, a child ghost, as her confidante. But recently he's been absent, perhaps lost as her father is. When Shay meets Hugh, the guy she's had a crush on for weeks, and finds he can speak to ghosts too she's just starting to find a normalcy in her life.

But as Hugh reveals the truth to Shay, about who she really is and about what it is she can do, he erases all chances she had at a normal existence. Turns out talking to ghosts is just scratching the surface of her genetically engineered gifts. Shay learns she may be part of an age old prophecy that could save the entire race of cryptids. But can she?

My Thoughts:

This was an interesting introduction. But my problems were that this book felt rushed. Then there was the instant love that bothered me, nothing really happened to make her want love him. There was no romance or anything must between each other other then that one similarity. I would want to say more about but I don't want to give out spoilers. What I did love was the idea of cryptids and how it ties to ghosts. I thought the characters were good but wished there was more to them. The story line was great and I think that this book is good for an introductory. Oh and with an ending like that I'll be sure to check out the next books to see what happens. See I'm going to rate this book 3.5 because I really liked the book so far but I wasn't in love with it. I hope to see more from this series in the next book.

A new adult story of Betrayal. Sex. Addiction. Love. And Power...

Mason's diabolical plan had actually worked.

In a matter of minutes he had kidnapped me, stripping me of everything...money, family, and freedom. It was humbling, depressing, and damn infuriating but I refuse to go down without a fight. I refuse to be defeated.

Boulder will find me. I didn't know how, but I felt it deep in my soul.

Boulder...the one man that made my body quake with just one look. It was madness. There was so much I didn't know about him. For that matter, there was so much that he didn't know about me…like the evil darkness lurking inside me, waiting to be unleashed.

Could he accept me without judging?

That's where most men failed. Accepting the real me. But after years of hardening my heart, and sealing it behind a steel cage, I was ready to give myself to him freely. Knowing, that he planned to take everything I offered with both hands, until all I thought of...and wanted...was him…

*** This is a new adult paranormal novel and contains sexual content and graphic language. It is not intended for young adult readers. ***

My Thoughts:

Infinity has been kidnapped and drugged by Mason. Mason believes that he and Infinity are true mates and when the full moon comes up he plans to mate her and get control over her powers. Meanwhile Boulder and the rest are trying to find her. When Infinity comes to her senses and realizes that Mason has been drugging her she stops taking what they are giving her. Shes becoming more clearheaded and realizes that there are gaps in her memory and works hard to get it back. Just walking out of where Mason put her is not an option so until she finder her way out she begins to learn more about herself and her role.

I thought this book was pretty good. It was unique and I haven't really come across a new adult book that have paranormal. What I didn't like was that everyone seemed to want Infinity. The story line is interesting and I loved that there was more then one point of view. My only problem was that it seems as if every person wanted her as a mate to get ownership over her power and it was rather annoying that everyone wanted just her. When I read books with a love triangle is okay but this book book is more like 3 or 4 guys like her and its too much. I loved the attraction between Boulder and Infinity. Overall I really enjoyed this book. Oh and as a warning this book does have a cliffhanger.

The Calling by Kelley Armstrong

The Calling by Kelley Armstrong
5 of 5 Stars
Genre: Young Adult, Paranormal, Shape Shifters
Pages: 326

Summery:

Maya and her friends where forced to leave town when a forest fire gets dangerously close. As time goes on they realize they aren't safe and end up in an accident where the helicopter they were traveling in crashes. Soon enough secrets are being revealed and now they kids are stranded in the wilderness of Vancouver Island. They are on the run and are being chased by what seems like two different groups of people who are after them. Now they must work together and use their new powers to help them get home.

My Say

I thought this book was great. There was chases, kidnapping, deaths that just kept everything interesting and I needed to know what happens next. I liked that I got to know who was what and what power did they have. The only person that wasn't revealed of what he was Cam. Spoiler (highlight to read) :  There was subtle hints in my opinion that he is like a foreseer possibly getting visions of the future. But that is just my guess I could be wrong. I guess I wont know until I get the next book. I like that Maya is a leader and even if at some points she could've ran away and saved herself she kept going back to help her friends in time of need. I liked that she was smart and a quick thinking and help saved their buts and help her friends survive in the woods. When her friends where complaining about everything and when they were hurt shed help them no question about it.

When it comes to my rating in order for it to have 5 stars It must have action, suspense, a bit of secrets being revealed and humor, in some cases a decent love story and even thought I hate to say it cliffhanger. There was a bit of everything in here to keep me wanting more and not want to finish till its through.

I've been noticing other reviews on this book that many Kelley Armstrong fans didn't like it so much because it's already been done before. I haven't read her first trilogy  I mean I read the first book a while ago like when it first came out, I think it was the start of my interest of supernatural books. Anyways it's been years and a bazillion books later so I don't remember to compare if its already been done. I don't usually find that much of a problem when it comes to stories like this, I find that a lot of YA supernatural books have pretty much the same plot but they just spice it up to make it a bit different from the rest. Its not a problem for me, maybe some of you other readers out there will have the same problem with this.

I was nearly jumping for joy when the library told me they had this audio book for me. I had a copy of this audio book but apparently it was missing the last CD which made it an ultimate cliffhanger and I had to wait a couple of days to finish this book. Thank goddess no cliffhanger like the first book. So I can handle reading a couple different books before I read the next. If there was a cliff hanger I'm pretty sure I would've rushed to the nearest bookstore to get it.
