From New York Times bestselling author Rachel Lee comes a story of one woman's survival and her protector's promise to find answers

The arrival of a single black rose signals danger to come for Kylie Brewer. Recovering from a brutal attack that claimed three years of her memory and her chance at a promising career, Kylie just wants to pick up the remaining fragments of her life. She returns to her hometown of Conard City to live with her sister but soon learns that putting the past in its place won't be easy.

Marine sergeant Evan Cooper—a trusted family friend who agrees to help Kylie—can't ignore his protective instincts. Or the steadily growing desire he feels for a woman who has overcome so much. He vows to help keep Kylie's demons at bay…but someone else has plans to finish what they started.

Kylie was attacked and left for dead. Only thing is she didn't stay dead and was left with a gap of 3 years missing from her memory. Now with PTSD shes under care of a Marine, Evan, who comes to Kylie's aid when they both sense something is up. Doesn't help that there is a creeper around town bothering children. When the rose shows up that's when they realized that Kylie's would be killer might be back to finish the job.

I thought it was interesting getting the point of view of multiple characters including the Attacker. It was interesting getting his point of view seeing how his mind worked was fascinating. I liked Kylie's character well enough but I think she was a bit over the top with the woe is me kinda thing going on, needed a big strong man to save her. I just wanted to yell at her to get a hold of herself get a bit of confidence. If I was feeling the way she had I would surround myself with family and loved ones rather then pretty much relying on just Evan. Yea its nice to have him around because hes nice to look at and has PTSD so he can relate to her a bit as well as being a nice guard. Her whole I'm helpless thing just drove me crazy. Other then that I really enjoyed this story. It was nice to see the relationship form between Evan and Kylie. I loved that there was plenty going on behind the scenes with the Attackers plans and what he was currently doing. Overall a pretty good book I enjoyed it.
