When Suzette comes home to Los Angeles from her boarding school in New England, she isn't sure if she'll ever want to go back. L.A. is where her friends and family are (along with her crush, Emil). And her stepbrother, Lionel, who has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, needs her emotional support.
But as she settles into her old life, Suzette finds herself falling for someone new...the same girl her brother is in love with. When Lionel's disorder spirals out of control, Suzette is forced to confront her past mistakes and find a way to help her brother before he hurts himself--or worse.
It's been awhile since I've taken time to write a review on a YA that I was really enjoying that I wasn't under the impression where I had to write a review. I wasn't expecting to like this book as much as I did, I finished it rather quickly too, faster then I thought I would. So here's the thing I went into this book knowing that its about a close relationship between a brother and sister. The brother had bipolar and is off meds and the sister is figuriing out her sexualilty and that this book spans over the course of the summer. I knew that the sister falls for the brothers girlfriend and this is pretty much the extent of what I knew about this book. I wasn't sure what I was expecting but I knew there was going to be loads of drama. I loved that this book was pretty diverse and handed some situations surprisingly well. I was hoping that cheating wouldn't be involved in this book I was actually curious how the whole brother sister liking the same person would turn out. I loved how the characters were questioning sexuality and how everything was handled in that aspect as well. I loved that there was the back then POV of what was going on in the family life and compared it to seeing things slowly escalate and with the back and forth with things. It was an interesting perspective with a siblings and how they were dealing with secrets between eachother and when to know how to seek out further assistance with things get a bit too complicated. I really loved this book it was a pretty refreshing read and I enjoyed it.
