Can a rookie help a veteran cop
catch a diabolical killer?

The hunt for the murderer of two women could be the make-or-break case of Drew Taylor’s career. The veteran police officer has no time to babysit a newbie cop with something to prove. Thrilled to be partnered with the man she has long admired, Nia Brooks pursues every lead…until her life is threatened. And Drew struggles with being protector and partner to Nia. With the sole clue a bloody fingerprint, Nia and Drew race to apprehend an elusive killer who doesn’t fit any criminal profile. But when a hidden agenda starts to become terrifyingly clear…it's Nina and Drew who could become the next victims.

Drew is a police officer working hard on a case looking for a serial killer and he has no time to deal with the new rookie cop Nia. Nia is first responder turned to cop and landed herself right into the case that she had first hand in as a first responder to one of the victims. With fresh new eyes looking at the case and the clues as they come forward Nia proves herself but it's clear when the two are getting closer to the perpetrator clearly that person doesn't want to be found and finds the tables are slowly turning to them when familiar clues start popping up towards them.

I really enjoyed this book. I thought it was interesting how Nia started working as a first responder so she has that kind of inside thing going on where she's kind of close to the case so feels compelled to really work on finding the Killer. And I love seeing how Nia and Drew work together. Drew was kind of set in his ways Nia seemed to be the right choice in giving a fresh new look with things coming up with her own ideas where others may have overlooked because experience may have just made them bypass it or not the close enough and it was just interesting to watch. Then there was a family drama when it comes to Nia and her while child of a sister and then looking further into their relationship it was interesting to see as well. As for the connection between the two I love that it didn't overpower the book it was a good mystery they were in the middle of a case to solve and it wasn't heavy on romance which I appreciate.
